Retention

At Sarver Orthodontics, we can’t stress enough just how important the retention phase of your orthodontic treatment is! Your retention phase of your treatment begins once we remove your braces and will last approximately two years.

The retention phase is a crucial part of your final orthodontic result. All of the hard work you put in while wearing braces is not the end of your treatment; it is vital to always be faithful about wearing your retainer as instructed by Dr. Sarver.

Also, always remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.

Lower Fixed Retainer

Fixed lower retainers are cemented directly to the inside surface of your lower canines (eye teeth). This is one of the best ways to prevent your lower teeth from shifting as it is permanently attached! Patients with fixed lower retainers must be careful with their bite as the bonding material may break due to incorrect biting and cause teeth to shift quickly. As with removable retainers, it is important to keep them clean. When brushing, make sure to carefully clean the inside of your lower teeth as well as the wire.
